ABOUT US
The International Potato Center (CIP; www.cipotato.org ) is the lead institution, responsible for executing the project's research and training activities in conjunction with its partners. Among CIP's main concerns are the transfer of the technology generated by its research divisions and the empowerment of local and national organizations. CIP's mission is to reduce poverty and achieve food security on a sustained basis in developing countries through scientific research and related activities on potato, sweetpotato and other root and tuber crops, and on the improved management of natural resources in the Andes and other mountain areas. Within CIP's organizational structure, the Natural Resource Management (NRM) research division conducts the ALTAGRO project. However, all other CIP's research divisions and partnership programs, such as CONDESAN and Papa Andina, also participate in the implementation of different activities of the project. Field work is conducted by project teams located in both Puno and Bolivia.
